Within this photo, Eugene Atget is able to portray the beauty of a simple boat. In his photo there is a boat on the side of the river. Grass surrounds the boat and trees surround the boat that grow from the water and on the land. This photo makes me wonder about who owns the boat and it makes me realize that beauty can come from the simplest things. Eugene Atget uses the formal elements of color because the photo was taken in black and white or middle gray, rule of thirds with the placement of the boat and reflection with the boat and trees reflecting onto the water.
